DESCRIPTION:Electric Earth Concerts continues its season with a program stretching from romanticism's peak to the present: Ernest Chausson's magnificent Concerto for Violin\, Piano\, and Strings meets new works for soprano and ensemble\, Paul Brantley's " in all this shadow land " written at the MacDowell Colony\, and Margaret Bonds' setting of Psalm 23. The stage bursts with the talent of Emely Phelps\, piano\; David McCarroll\, violin\; Grant Houston\, Isabelle Durrenberger\, violin\; Angela Park\, cello\; Rebecca Farley\, soprano\; Tomina Parvanova Lyden\, harp\; Laura Gilbert\, flute and Jonathan Bagg\, viola.\n\n \n\nAm d e-Ernest Chausson was a French Romantic composer. Born in Paris into an affluent bourgeois family\, Chausson was the sole surviving child of a building contractor who made his fortune assisting Baron Haussmann in the redevelopment of Paris in the 1850s. To please his father\, Chausson studied law and was appointed a barrister for the Court of Appeals but had little or no interest in the profession. He frequented the Paris salons\, where he met celebrities such as Henri Fantin-Latour\, Odilon Redon\, and Vincent d'Indy. Before deciding on a musical career\, he dabbled in writing and drawing.\n\n \n\nPaul Brantley is an American composer\, cellist\, and conductor based in New York City\, known for his diverse and interdisciplinary approach to music.
