Celebrating Martin Luther Jr. Community Celebration
In commemoration of the 60-year anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the theme for the Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr 2025 is “Voting: The Heart of Democracy.”
The family-friendly community celebration will be held at The Park Theatre in Jaffrey on Tuesday, January 21, 5-6 p.m. with music by the Jaffrey Grade School Chorus and other features. Special guest Ali Sekou will share his inspiring journey to citizenship and the right to vote. Ali Sekou grew up in a small village in Niger, immigrated and settled in New Hampshire, learned English and went on to higher education, and made history as the first New American, first African American, and first Muslim to be elected to the Concord City Council. Councilman Sekou also serves as Concord mayor pro-tem.
The event is free but tickets are required. It is highly recommended to obtain tickets in advance at theparktheatre.org, boxoffice@theparktheatre.org, or 603-532-9300.
