Electric Earth Concerts presents the Catalyst Quartet

Electric Earth Concerts continues its season with “Cinematic Refuge” featuring the
Grammy Award-winning Catalyst Quartet on Friday, September 25 at 7pm at the First
Church in Jaffrey.
The Catalyst Quartet was founded by the internationally acclaimed Sphinx
Organization in 2010. The ensemble believes in the unity that can be achieved
through music and imagine their programs and projects with this in mind,
redefining and reimagining the classical music experience.
Always eagerly awaited by EEC audiences, the Catalyst brings a penetrating viewpoint to their offerings. Movies can help to escape reality, or they can mirror it. In their upcoming concert “Cinematic Refuge,” the group presents music written for motion pictures around the ideals of freedom from oppression. The program includes 20th and 21st century works by John Adams, Max Richter, Philip Glass, Bernard Herrmann and Erich Wolfgang Korngold. This is an opportunity to hear the cinematic side of these four celebrated composers.
John Adams’ movie scores include Shutter Island, Run Lola Run, and We Are Who
We Are. Max Richter’s movie scores include Arrival, The Leftovers, Ad Astra, and Hamnet. Philip Glass’ movie scores include The Hours, The Truman Show, and
Kundun. Bernard Herrmann’s movie scores include Psycho, Taxi Driver, and Vertigo.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s movie scores include The Adventures of Robin Hood,
Deception, and Of Human Bondage.
Listening online is good. But there’s nothing like hearing live music played by world-
class performers! Come and hear these fascinating works on September 25th !
