Friends of the Jaffrey Library Holiday Tea

On Wednesday, December 4 from 2 to 4, all Friends of the Jaffrey Library, patrons and staff, and booklovers are invited to the 13th Annual Holiday Tea. The event will begin in the local history rooms on the Victorian style second floor (access via stairs or elevator). The ritual of afternoon tea can be found throughout literature, from Alice in Wonderland to Agatha Christie. One quote from C.S. Lewis says it all, “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” ccme at 2 pm for tea, sandwiches, cookies, cakes, and conversation.
At 3 pm, everyone will move to the Bean Room on the main floor for a brief annual meeting to report on the Friends’ accomplishments and elect its board. This year The afternoon will close with storytelling by a dynamic team, Library Director Julie Perrin and Youth Services Librarian Andrea Connolly.
The Jaffrey Friends of the Library is a nonprofit group that works to strengthen, promote, and support our public library. It is committed to helping the library meet the diverse needs of the community and open doors to lifelong learning and discovery for everyone.
In the past few years, the Friends have funded museum passes, the Ancestry.com database, mahjong sets, mobile hot spots, NHH programs for adults, supplies for the library’s many book clubs, and musicians to help entertain at the library’s senior outreach program for the monthly Friendly Meals program.
Annual dues are currently $15 a year. Forms are available at the main circulation desk. Dues and donations to the Friends are tax deductible. Newcomers to town and anyone interested in joining the Friends of the Library are most welcome to attend the December 4 Tea.
